Tillandsia Air Rose
The Tillandsia Air Rose is an attractive ornamental hybrid belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, resulting from the cross between Tillandsia Aeranthos and Tillandsia Stricta ‘Grün’. This hybrid combines the great resilience and ease of cultivation of Aeranthos with the compact structure and showy flowering characteristic of Stricta.
Tillandsia Aeranthos, native to Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina, is one of the most resilient species in the genus. It is characterized by its vigorous growth, its ability to produce numerous offsets, and its violet flowers with pink bracts, making it a highly appreciated plant in Tillandsia collections.
For its part, Tillandsia Stricta ‘Grün’, native primarily to Brazil, contributes to the hybrid a more compact structure, neater leaves, and intense flowering, traits that are highly valued in ornamental cultivation.
Thanks to this genetic combination, the Tillandsia Air Rose develops compact rosettes of narrow, grayish-green leaves, covered by trichomes that allow it to absorb moisture directly from the air. Over time, it usually produces offsets, forming very decorative dense clusters.
During the flowering season, generally in spring or summer, it develops pink bracts from which tubular violet flowers emerge, creating a very attractive contrast.
Thanks to its resilience and ornamental value, the Tillandsia Air Rose is ideal for open terrariums, vertical gardens, compositions with air plants, or decorative arrangements on wood, cork, or stone.
