Tillandsia Bandensis × Marconae
The Tillandsia Bandensis × Marconae is an interesting ornamental hybrid belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, highly valued for its compact size, silvery coloration, and high resistance to dry conditions. It is an air plant ideal for collectors and lovers of xerophytic tillandsias.
This hybrid combines two species adapted to demanding environments:
The Tillandsia Bandensis, native to Bolivia and northern Argentina, contributes its small size, rigid leaves, and abundant trichome coverage, which gives it great resistance to drought and its characteristic silvery tone.
For its part, the Tillandsia Marconae, native to Peru, stands out for its more open structure, slightly longer leaves, and its adaptation to extremely dry and sunny conditions, adding robustness to the hybrid.
Thanks to this genetic combination, the Tillandsia Bandensis × Marconae develops compact rosettes that are somewhat more open than bandensis, with thin, rigid leaves densely covered in trichomes, in a silvery white color.
Its growth is slow to moderate and over time it can produce pups, forming small compact clusters.
During the flowering season, generally in spring or summer, it develops tubular flowers in violet tones, discreet but elegant.
Thanks to its resistance, size, and aesthetics, this hybrid is ideal for collections, mounts on stone or wood, and decoration in very bright or dry environments, where it can show off its coloration.
