Tillandsia Holm’s Sunset
The Tillandsia Holm’s Sunset is a striking ornamental hybrid belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, highly valued for its warm reddish and orange coloration, compact growth, and ease of cultivation. It is an air plant that is ideal for both collectors and beginners.
This hybrid is part of the well-known Holm’s series and comes from a cross between Tillandsia Ionantha × Tillandsia Brachycaulos, a combination highly prized for its color intensity and ornamental behavior.
Tillandsia Ionantha, native to Mexico and Central America, contributes its great adaptability, compact size, and tendency to take on reddish hues before flowering, in addition to producing offsets easily.
For its part, Tillandsia Brachycaulos, also from Central America, is known for its intense red or orange coloration under good light and its open, decorative shape, adding volume and color to the hybrid.
Thanks to this genetic combination, the Tillandsia Holm’s Sunset develops compact rosettes with somewhat wider and softer leaves, green in color, which can transform into reddish, orange, or "sunset" tones with good lighting.
Its growth is fast and it produces numerous offsets, forming dense and highly decorative clusters.
During the flowering season, generally in spring or summer, it intensifies its coloration and develops tubular violet flowers, creating a very attractive contrast.
Thanks to its color, resistance, and ease of cultivation, the Tillandsia Holm’s Sunset is ideal for decorating with air plants, open terrariums, vertical gardens, or mounts on wood and cork, making it one of the most eye-catching options.
