The Neoregelia 'Atlantis' is a variety of bromeliad native to the rainforests of South America, primarily in Brazil, known for its lush and showy leaves that feature a unique pattern of colors and stripes. The Neoregelia 'Atlantis' is an epiphytic plant belonging to the bromeliad family.
Its leaves are broad, flat, and form a rosette in the center. The most distinctive feature of this variety is its coloration, which includes shades of green, red, yellow, and white, creating an attractive and striking pattern.
As the plant matures, it can develop a more intense tone in its colors. The 'Atlantis' is appreciated for its ornamental appeal and is an excellent choice for adding an exotic touch to interior spaces.
Neoregelias are named in honor of the botanist Edward von Regel, who was the director of the botanical gardens in St. Petersburg.
Originally classified as Aregelia, Karatus, and Regelia, they were reclassified as Neoregelia in 1890.
Most of the more than 100 known varieties grow wild in Brazil, Colombia, and Peru.
They prefer bright light conditions; however, direct sunlight can burn and bleach the leaves, so semi-shaded areas or indirect light are the most recommended.
Similar to Tillandsias, Neoregelias tolerate temperatures from 15ºC to 30ºC to develop correctly, but will not survive below 10ºC.
Temperatures above 30ºC will cause poor leaf coloration, as well as burns on the leaves.
Bark support not included.
