Tillandsia Old Man´s Gold
The Tillandsia Old Man´s Gold is an attractive ornamental hybrid belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, highly valued for its intense silver color, soft texture, and excellent resistance to dry conditions. It is an ideal air plant for both collectors and those looking for a very decorative and easy-to-care-for tillandsia.
This hybrid comes from the cross between Tillandsia Tectorum and Tillandsia Xerographica, two species highly adapted to environments with high light, low humidity, and demanding conditions.
The Tillandsia Tectorum, native to Peru and Ecuador, contributes its high density of trichomes, whitish color, and extraordinary drought resistance, making it one of the species most adapted to extreme environments.
For its part, Tillandsia Xerographica, native to Mexico and Central America, contributes its structural bearing, wider leaves, and more robust growth, adding size, shape, and presence to the hybrid.
Thanks to this genetic combination, the Tillandsia Old Man´s Gold develops medium-sized rosettes with leaves covered in abundant trichomes, of a light silver color, with a soft texture and a very ornamental appearance.
Its growth is slow but stable, and over time it can produce pups, forming decorative clusters.
During the flowering season, it may develop a central inflorescence with pinkish or reddish tones and violet flowers, inheriting characteristics from both parental species.
Thanks to its resistance, low maintenance, and unique aesthetics, the Tillandsia Old Man´s Gold is perfect for decoration with air plants, very bright interiors, vertical gardens, or mounting on wood and stone.
