Tillandsia Aeranthos Major

The Tillandsia Aeranthos Major is a vigorous variety of the well-known Tillandsia Aeranthos, belonging to the Bromeliaceae family. This form is characterized by its more robust habit and slightly longer leaves, giving it a more pronounced presence compared to the standard form of the species.

The Tillandsia Aeranthos is native to Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina, where it grows naturally as an epiphytic plant on tree branches, trunks, and rocks in well-ventilated areas with good light. In its natural environment, it typically forms dense colonies, as it produces numerous offsets after each flowering.

The Major variety forms compact rosettes of narrow, rigid, grayish-green leaves, covered in fine trichomes that allow it to capture moisture from the air. Over time, it develops new shoots around the mother plant, creating very decorative clumps.

During the flowering season, usually in spring or summer, it develops a pink or reddish inflorescence from which intense violet tubular flowers emerge, a very characteristic contrast that makes this plant one of the most striking tillandsias.

Thanks to its hardiness and ease of cultivation, the Tillandsia Aeranthos Major is ideal for open terrariums, vertical gardens, mountings on wood or cork, and air plant arrangements, adding volume and color to any space.
