Tillandsia Aeranthos Red-Leaved
The Tillandsia Aeranthos Red-Leaved is an attractive variety of the well-known Tillandsia Aeranthos, belonging to the Bromeliaceae family. This variety is characterized by the reddish coloration its leaves can acquire, especially when the plant receives good lighting or during the period prior to flowering.
The Tillandsia Aeranthos is native to Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina, where it grows naturally as an epiphytic plant on tree branches, trunks, and rocks in well-ventilated areas with abundant light. In its natural environment, it usually forms dense colonies, producing numerous offsets (pups) after each flowering.
The Red-Leaved variety forms compact rosettes of narrow, rigid leaves that are grayish-green and can turn reddish or coppery under good lighting conditions. The leaves are covered by trichomes that allow the plant to absorb moisture and nutrients directly from the air.
During the flowering season, generally in spring or summer, it develops a pink inflorescence from which intense violet tubular flowers emerge, creating a striking contrast with the plant's reddish tones.
Thanks to its hardiness and ease of cultivation, the Tillandsia Aeranthos Red-Leaved is an ideal plant for open terrariums, vertical gardens, air plant arrangements, or mounted on wood, cork, or stone, adding color and texture to any composition.
