Tillandsia Aeranthos × Seideliana

The Tillandsia Aeranthos × Seideliana is an attractive ornamental hybrid belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, the result of a cross between Tillandsia Aeranthos and Tillandsia Seideliana. This hybrid combines the hardiness and ease of cultivation of Aeranthos with the compact structure and elegant growth of Seideliana.

Tillandsia Aeranthos, native to Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina, is one of the hardiest species in the genus. It is characterized by its great adaptability, ease of producing offsets, and its spectacular violet flowers with pink bracts.

For its part, Tillandsia Seideliana, also native to Brazil, stands out for its compact habit and its more ordered, rigid leaves, which provide the hybrid with a more balanced and ornamental structure.

Thanks to this genetic combination, Tillandsia Aeranthos × Seideliana develops compact rosettes of narrow, grayish-green leaves, covered by trichomes that allow it to absorb moisture directly from the air. Over time, it usually produces offsets (pups), forming highly decorative clumps.

During the flowering season, usually in spring or summer, it can produce reddish inflorescences with beautiful blue to violet petaled flowers, inherited mainly from Tillandsia Aeranthos.

Due to its hardiness and ease of cultivation, this hybrid is ideal for open terrariums, vertical gardens, air plant arrangements, or decorative mounts on wood and cork.
