Tillandsia Alberanthos
The Tillandsia Alberanthos is an interesting natural hybrid belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, resulting from the cross between Tillandsia Albertiana and Tillandsia Aeranthos. This hybrid combines characteristics of both species, resulting in a very resistant plant with especially ornamental flowering.
The Tillandsia Albertiana, native mainly to Argentina, is known for its compact habit and its striking red flowers, which is unusual within the Tillandsia genus. This species typically grows in rocky areas or on tree trunks in well-ventilated environments.
For its part, the Tillandsia Aeranthos, native to Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina, is one of the most resistant species of the genus. It is characterized by its vigorous growth, its ability to produce numerous pups, and its violet flowers with pink bracts.
Thanks to the genetic combination of both species, the Tillandsia Alberanthos develops compact rosettes of narrow, grayish-green leaves, covered by trichomes that allow it to absorb moisture directly from the air. Over time, it usually produces pups, forming small, very decorative clusters.
During the flowering season, usually in spring or summer, it can develop flowers in reddish or violet tones, inheriting characteristics from both parent species.
Thanks to its resistance and ornamental appeal, the Tillandsia Alberanthos is an ideal plant for Tillandsia collections, open terrariums, vertical gardens, or decorative mounts on wood, cork, or stone.
