Tillandsia ‘Bartrami Pulk’
The Tillandsia ‘Bartrami Pulk’ is an interesting ornamental hybrid belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, highly valued for its compact size, high trichome density, and great resistance to dry conditions. It is an ideal air plant for collectors and lovers of xerophytic tillandsias.
This hybrid comes from the cross between Tillandsia Bandensis × Tillandsia Straminea, combining reduced size, dense texture, and excellent adaptation to demanding environments.
The Tillandsia Bandensis, native to Bolivia and northern Argentina, provides its miniature size, stiff leaves, and abundant trichome coverage, which gives it a silvery appearance and great drought resistance.
For its part, the Tillandsia Straminea, native to Peru, contributes a more open structure, slightly longer leaves, and greater robustness, as well as its adaptation to high-light conditions and dry climates.
The ‘Pulk’ selection is characterized by developing a more compact and dense form, with shorter leaves and a higher concentration of trichomes, intensifying its silvery-white color.
The Tillandsia ‘Bartrami Pulk’ develops compact rosettes of thin, stiff leaves densely covered in trichomes, with a clean, compact, and highly decorative appearance.
Its growth is slow to moderate and over time it can produce pups, forming small clusters.
During the flowering season, generally in spring or summer, it develops tubular flowers in shades of violet, discreet but elegant.
Thanks to its resistance, size, and aesthetics, this hybrid is ideal for collections, mounts on stone or wood, and decoration in very bright or dry environments, where it can show off its silvery coloration.
