Tillandsia Bauple

The Tillandsia Bauple is a well-known ornamental hybrid belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, highly valued for its compact size, vigorous growth, and ease of cultivation. It is an ideal air plant for both beginners and collectors.

This hybrid comes from the cross between Tillandsia Brachycaulos × Tillandsia Paucifolia, combining a compact form with greater resistance and adaptability.

The Tillandsia Brachycaulos, native to Mexico and Central America, contributes its compact structure, broader leaves, and its ability to change color (reddish) before flowering, as well as its ease of cultivation.

For its part, Tillandsia Paucifolia, native to Florida, Mexico, and the Caribbean, contributes a more open structure, slightly more rigid leaves, and greater resistance to variable conditions, bringing balance to the hybrid.

Thanks to this genetic combination, the Tillandsia Bauple develops compact but slightly open rosettes, with leaves somewhat narrower than brachycaulos, firm and grayish-green in color, which can acquire reddish tones with good lighting.

Its growth is rapid and it produces pups easily, forming very decorative dense clusters.

During the flowering season, generally in spring or summer, it develops an inflorescence with pink or reddish bracts and violet tubular flowers, inheriting characteristics from both species.

Thanks to its resistance, growth, and ease of care, Tillandsia Bauple is ideal for decorating with air plants, vertical gardens, collections, or mounts on wood and cork, making it a very rewarding choice.
