Tillandsia Caerulea ‘Major’

The Tillandsia Caerulea ‘Major’ is an attractive form of Tillandsia Caerulea belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, highly valued for its larger size, fragrant flowering, and ease of cultivation. It is an ideal air plant for collectors and lovers of aromatic tillandsias.

Tillandsia Caerulea is native to Peru and Bolivia, where it grows naturally as an epiphytic or saxicolous plant in environments with high light, good ventilation, and a temperate to dry climate, adapting very well to different conditions.

The ‘Major’ form is characterized by developing a larger and more robust structure, with longer leaves and a more open rosette than the standard form, providing a greater presence.

The Tillandsia Caerulea ‘Major’ develops wide rosettes of thin, soft, and slightly arched leaves, gray-green in color with the presence of trichomes.

Its growth is moderate and over time it produces pups, forming more voluminous clusters.

During the flowering season, generally in spring or summer, it develops an inflorescence with tubular flowers in shades of blue or violet, highly appreciated for their intense aroma, one of the most outstanding characteristics of this species.

Thanks to its size, fragrance, and aesthetics, the Tillandsia Caerulea ‘Major’ is ideal for collections, decoration in bright interiors, mounts on wood, or arrangements where both its form and its aroma can be appreciated.
