Tillandsia ‘Eric Knobloch’

The Tillandsia ‘Eric Knobloch’ is an attractive ornamental hybrid belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, highly valued for its compact size, good coloration, and ease of cultivation. It is an ideal air plant for collectors and striking decoration.

The Tillandsia Eric Knobloch is a hybrid created in New Orleans (USA) in the late 1960s and is formed by the combination of Tillandsia Brachycaulos and Tillandsia Streptophylla.

This hybrid is known in cultivation for its balance between resilience and aesthetics, being a very rewarding plant in various conditions.

Although its exact origin is not always fully documented, it is a compact tillandsia hybrid, possibly related to species of the Ionantha group or similar, which explains its small size and tendency to color up.

The Tillandsia ‘Eric Knobloch’ develops compact rosettes of short to medium, firm, and slightly arched leaves, gray-green in color, which can transform into reddish or orange tones with good light or during flowering.

Its growth is moderate to fast and it produces pups easily, forming dense clumps over time.

During the flowering season, generally in spring or summer, it develops an inflorescence that turns almost entirely a remarkable intense red color, forming crimson pink bracts and purple tubular flowers.

Thanks to its size, coloration, and ease of cultivation, the Tillandsia ‘Eric Knobloch’ is ideal for collections, open terrariums, bright indoor decoration, or compositions with air plants, making it very versatile.
