Tillandsia ‘Feather Duster’
The Tillandsia ‘Feather Duster’ is an attractive ornamental hybrid belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, highly valued for its soft form, feathery appearance, and elegant carriage. It is an air plant ideal for collectors and delicate, natural decor.
The Tillandsia Feather Duster was created in the early 80s in the USA, from a cross between Tillandsia Stricta and Tillandsia Gardneri.
This hybrid is known for its light and delicate aesthetic, with characteristics reminiscent of soft- and thin-leaved species, which gives it that "feather duster" or plume look for which it is named.
The Tillandsia ‘Feather Duster’ develops open rosettes with fine, soft, and flexible leaves, ranging from light green to grayish-green, creating a light, airy, and very decorative silhouette.
Its growth is moderate and, over time, it can produce offsets, forming soft, voluminous clusters.
During the flowering season, generally in spring or summer, it can develop an inflorescence with pink or reddish bracts and violet tubular flowers, providing a subtle contrast.
Thanks to its texture and aesthetics, the Tillandsia ‘Feather Duster’ is ideal for air plant decor, light arrangements, open terrariums, or mounts on wood and cork, where it provides movement and delicacy.
