Tillandsia Flexuosa ‘Bahamas’

The Tillandsia Flexuosa ‘Bahamas’ is an interesting local form of Tillandsia Flexuosa belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, highly valued for its great resistance, imposing size, and adaptation to harsher conditions. It is an air plant ideal for collectors and for growing in bright outdoor settings.

The Tillandsia Flexuosa is widely distributed across Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and northern South America, growing as an epiphytic or saxicolous plant in environments of high light, good ventilation, and variable conditions.

The ‘Bahamas’ form comes from populations adapted to coastal environments of the Bahamas, which gives it greater tolerance to intense light, dryness, and more exposed conditions, making it especially hardy.

The Tillandsia Flexuosa ‘Bahamas’ develops large, open rosettes, with long, wide, and strongly undulating or twisted leaves, green to grayish-green in color, with a more robust and tough appearance.

Its growth is moderate, reaching 50cm. Over time it produces pups, forming voluminous clusters.

During the flowering season, generally in spring or summer, it develops a branched inflorescence with reddish or pink bracts and tubular violet flowers, which is highly decorative.

Thanks to its resistance and size, the Tillandsia Flexuosa ‘Bahamas’ is ideal for sheltered outdoor areas, vertical gardens, collections, or large displays, where it can fully develop.
