Tillandsia Funckiana × Brachycaulos
The Tillandsia Funckiana × Brachycaulos is an attractive ornamental hybrid belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, highly valued for its combination of branched structure and tendency toward reddish coloration. It is an air plant ideal for collectors and original arrangements.
This hybrid combines two very distinct species:
The Tillandsia Funckiana, native to Venezuela, contributes its characteristic caulescent (stem) growth, branched structure, and tubular red flowers.
Meanwhile, the Tillandsia Brachycaulos, native to Mexico and Central America, is known for its rosette habit, wider leaves, and ability to acquire intense reddish tones.
Thanks to this genetic combination, the Tillandsia Funckiana × Brachycaulos develops an intermediate structure, with a tendency to form small elongated rosettes or partially branched structures, with leaves that are wider than Funckiana but narrower than Brachycaulos, of a green color that can intensify toward reddish tones in good light.
Its growth is moderate to fast and it produces pups easily, forming groups with very decorative and uncommon shapes.
During the flowering season, it can develop an inflorescence with reddish bracts and tubular flowers, combining characteristics of both parents, with variations depending on the clone.
Thanks to its unique hybrid shape, the Tillandsia Funckiana × Brachycaulos is ideal for collections, mounting on wood, natural arrangements, or distinct decorative pieces, where its structure can stand out.
A very rare collector's specimen and difficult to find in the European market.
