Tillandsia Gilliesii
The Tillandsia Gilliesii is an interesting botanical species belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, highly valued for its compact size, rigid leaves, and great resilience. It is an ideal air plant for collectors and for cultivation in varied conditions.
This species is native to Argentina and Bolivia, where it grows naturally as an epiphytic or saxicolous plant in high-light, well-ventilated, and dry to temperate climates, adapting well to more extreme conditions.
The Tillandsia Gilliesii develops compact rosettes with narrow, rigid leaves covered in trichomes, ranging in color from grayish-green to silver, which allows it to tolerate exposure to intense light well.
Its growth is slow to moderate and over time it can produce pups, forming small, dense clusters.
During the flowering season, generally in spring or summer, it develops a simple inflorescence with tubular flowers in shades of pink to violet, providing a delicate contrast to the silvery foliage.
Thanks to its resilience and size, the Tillandsia Gilliesii is ideal for collections, mounting on stone or wood, and decoration in very bright or dry environments, making it a very reliable species.
