Tillandsia Holm´s Volcano
The Tillandsia Holm´s Volcano is a spectacular ornamental hybrid belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, highly prized for its intense coloration, compact growth, and striking bloom. It is an ideal plant for collectors looking for tillandsias with great visual impact.
This hybrid comes from the cross between Tillandsia Ionantha and Tillandsia Tenuifolia, combining the best of both species.
The Tillandsia Ionantha, native to Mexico and Central America, contributes to the hybrid its ability to acquire intense reddish tones before blooming, its ease of cultivation, and its great capacity for reproduction through pups.
For its part, the Tillandsia Tenuifolia, native to Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina, contributes with its finer structure, compact growth, and showy bloom, which results in more stylized and ornamental plants.
Thanks to this genetic combination, the Tillandsia Holm´s Volcano develops compact rosettes of narrow and dense leaves, with a grayish-green coloration that can transform into very intense reddish tones with good lighting, reminiscent of the appearance of a “volcano,” from which it gets its name.
During the flowering season, generally in spring or summer, it produces violet tubular flowers, creating a spectacular contrast with the plant's red coloration.
In addition, it produces numerous pups, forming dense clusters over time, which makes it a highly decorative plant in arrangements.
