Tillandsia Tectorum Filifoliatum

The Tillandsia Tectorum Filifoliatum is a spectacular form of Tillandsia Tectorum belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, highly prized for its soft appearance, fine leaves, and its great adaptation to extremely dry climates. It is an ideal air plant for collectors of xerophytic tillandsias.

The Tillandsia Tectorum is native to Peru and Ecuador, where it grows naturally in high-altitude areas, arid environments with strong sun exposure, developing as an epiphytic or saxicolous plant on rocks and exposed surfaces.

The Filifoliatum form is characterized by its thinner, longer, and softer leaves, which give it a more delicate and feathery appearance compared to other forms of Tectorum. These leaves are covered by a large number of white trichomes, which allow the plant to capture moisture from the air and protect itself from intense solar radiation.

The Tillandsia Tectorum Filifoliatum forms open and light rosettes with a very decorative aesthetic. Its growth is slow but steady, and over time it can produce pups.

During the flowering season, generally in spring or summer, it can produce tubular flowers in violet tones that contrast with its characteristic silvery-white color.

Thanks to its extreme drought resistance and unique appearance, it is ideal for specialized collections, very bright environments, air plant decoration, or displays on stone and wood, especially in dry climates.
