Tillandsia Usneoides Capellini
The Tillandsia Usneoides Capellini is an especially fine and delicate variety of the species, native to America, where it extends from the southern United States to Chile and Argentina. Popularly known as "Spanish moss" or "old man's beard", it stands out for its extremely fine, light, and elegant appearance, reminiscent of very soft and fluid vegetable hair.
The term “Capellini” refers precisely to its very thin structure, with filaments even finer than the common usneoides, with a straighter shape and without as much curvature or waviness, creating a lighter, silkier, and more ethereal appearance.
It is formed by long, very fine hanging stems, covered with small linear leaves with abundant silvery trichomes, which give it a light silvery-gray color. Its texture is softer and more delicate, creating a highly refined visual effect.
Its growth is continuous and pendulous, forming very fine and dense vegetable curtains over time, ideal for natural decoration, especially in suspended compositions where its natural drape can be showcased.
It is a plant that needs excellent ventilation and thrives best when grown freely hanging, allowing air to circulate between its filaments and preventing moisture accumulation.
During flowering, it produces small, discreet, greenish or pale yellowish flowers, which can be slightly fragrant, although its main attraction is its texture and natural movement.
Due to its extreme fineness, pendulous habit, and elegant aesthetics, the Tillandsia Usneoides Capellini is ideal for decoration, collections, and spaces where a light and sophisticated botanical effect is sought.
