Tillandsia Veronica’s Mariposa

The Tillandsia Veronica’s Mariposa is an attractive ornamental hybrid belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, highly valued for its elegant bearing, firm leaves, and spectacular flowering. It is an air plant ideal for both collectors and beginners.

This hybrid comes from the cross between Tillandsia Aeranthos × Tillandsia Leonamiana, combining resistance, structure, and a very showy bloom.

The Tillandsia Aeranthos, native to Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina, contributes its great adaptability, vigorous growth, and ease of producing pups, in addition to its characteristic violet flowers.

For its part, the Tillandsia Leonamiana, native to Brazil, contributes a more rigid structure, thicker leaves, and a more robust and long-lasting inflorescence, adding presence to the hybrid.

Thanks to this genetic combination, the Tillandsia Veronica’s Mariposa develops open rosettes with firm, slightly arched, and trichome-covered leaves, of a grayish-green color with silvery hues.

Its growth is moderate to fast and it produces pups easily, forming decorative clusters over time.

During the flowering season, generally in spring or summer, it develops an inflorescence with pink or reddish bracts and violet flowers, creating a very striking and ornamental contrast.

Thanks to its resistance, its flowering, and its ease of cultivation, it is ideal for decoration with air plants, vertical gardens, collections, or mounts on wood and cork.
